📋 Google API Services — Limited Use Compliance
Smart Meet's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the
Google API Services User Data Policy
,
including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
-
Purpose limitation: Google user data is used solely to provide or improve the user-facing features of Smart Meet that are clearly visible to the user. Data obtained via Google APIs is not used for any purpose unrelated to the feature that prompted its collection.
-
No unauthorised transfer: Google user data is not transferred to third parties except (a) as necessary to deliver the requested feature, (b) to comply with applicable law, or (c) with the user's prior affirmative consent. In all cases the recipient is bound to handle the data consistently with this policy.
-
No advertising use: Google user data is never used for serving advertisements, including personalised or targeted advertising.
-
No sale or credit use: Google user data is never sold, licensed, or otherwise monetised. It is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
-
No human access to user data: Smart Meet personnel are not permitted to read or manually access Google user data. The only exceptions are: (a) the user has given explicit, affirmative consent to allow a specific person to view specific data (e.g. during a support session initiated by the user); (b) access is necessary for security purposes such as investigating a confirmed abuse incident; or (c) access is required to comply with applicable law or a valid legal process. In all permitted cases access is logged and limited in scope to what is strictly necessary.
1. Data Retention and Deletion of Google User Data
We are committed to minimising the retention of Google user data and giving you full control over its deletion:
- Google profile & email: Displayed in the extension UI while you are signed in. This data is held only in your browser's local storage and is deleted immediately when you disconnect your Google account from Smart Meet (Settings → Account → Disconnect).
- Google Calendar events: Fetched on demand or during scheduled background sync. Events are stored in
chrome.storage.local on your device only. They are not automatically removed when you disconnect your calendar account; you must clear them explicitly via Settings → Calendar → Clear cached events, or by uninstalling the extension (at which point Chrome removes all extension storage automatically).
- Google Drive access token: Managed entirely by Chrome's Identity API. Smart Meet never persists raw OAuth tokens to any storage. Disconnecting your Google account via Settings → Calendar → Disconnect revokes the token from both Chrome's token cache and Google's authorisation server.
- Meeting captions saved to Google Drive: Files you explicitly export to Google Drive remain in your own Drive account. Smart Meet does not retain copies on any server. You may delete these files at any time directly from Google Drive.
- Retention period: No Google user data is stored on Smart Meet servers at any time. Device-local data is removed upon account disconnection, extension uninstallation, or manual clearing — whichever comes first.
Because Smart Meet stores all data exclusively on your own device and transmits nothing to our servers, you are in full control of deletion at all times. Use the in-extension controls described above to remove any data instantly — no request to us is necessary.
